Mostar Photo Stories Gallery
This photo gallery showcases 65 photo stories from seven Mostar communities (mjesne zajednice) about everyday signs of peace and life together. A diverse assortment of community members shared their experiences and opinions about these most significant priorities in their neighbourhoods and city.
Peace indicators
- A group of citizens who initiate cleanup of Ploča beach in Cernica receive support from the authorities and don’t have to go privately to an individual from the ruling party.
- A joint project of educational workshops was initiated in Potoci, bringing together women from all three nations.
- A neighbor keeps his dog on a leash.
- A woman from Podhum still has the same friends after the war as she had before.
- All in all, Zalik is one big family.
- All of Trimuša is lit up, not just specific areas like the playground or promenade.
- Animals are not abandoned at Bunica.
- Betting shop staff do not let children place bets.
- Cultural institutions don’t have national symbols.
- Demolished buildings are reconstructed.
- During quiet hours (2 to 5 pm) no one yells, therefore people can sleep.
- If one Muslim has a beard, that doesn’t mean that those without beards aren’t real Muslims.
- In Bijeli Brijeg, there is enough parking space, so people don’t have to leave their cars on the street.
- In Blagaj, there is a clinic that operates 24 hours, not 3 hours a day.
- In Mostar, everyone helps each other.
- In Zalik residents welcome people who have moved in.
- Many people shared the Instagram page “pomozi.mojoj.nevjeri,” (help.my.unbelief) which was launched by a girl from Mostar in order to help as many people as possible.

- There are more activities for children at Kantarevac (besides only concerts and Christmas tournaments).
- There are NGO projects in Potoci where people of all nationalities socialize.
- There are waste containers in Blagaj.
- There is a commissioner for the local community office in Cernica.
- We do not encounter any personal negative situations on the other side of the city.
- We don’t think that someone will attack us in whatever part of the city.
- Đemo Kasumović started cleaning up Trimuša, and other people joined in the effort.
Life together indicators
- A normal person doesn’t desire war
- An irrigation system was built so that people can engage in agriculture in Potoci.
- Cim Football Club has a stadium in Cim.
- Cim is a special place because everybody knows each other.
- Community life in Blagaj is normal.
- Grown children help their parents.
- Hatred is eradicated in Mostar because parents teach the younger generation not to harbor animosity towards people of different faiths.
- In Bijeli Brijeg, the Small Stairs have been renovated.
- In cafes there is no Wi-Fi service, so people talk to each other.
- In Mostar, there are no “this” and “that” sides.
- Jobs are obtained without connections.
- Kids hang out at trainings in Cim.
- More children play ball in the street.
- Parents do not raise their children to hate others.
- People don’t throw trash in the river.
- People in Mostar are ready to help their neighbors if they are in trouble.
- People in Mostar live happily in mixed marriages.
- People visit the theater because they know there are performances.
- Regardless which part of Mostar they come from, young people go out to the same place: Mepas Mall.
- Residents have been informed about the regulations for bulky waste disposal through notice boards in every building.
- Summer Fest has good content that gathers a lot of people.
- The asphalt in Cernica is well laid and there is no noise from loose manhole covers.
- The bridge in Ilići is a tourist attraction.
- The people of Cim maintain its basilica.
- The system does not create problems.
- There are more trash cans along Bulevar and in Cernica.
- There are no Herzeg-Bosnia flags in Mostar
- There is a pool in Potoci.
